To help provide access to the Texas State Law Library's legal resources, the reference librarians have selected the most noteworthy titles in our collection and arranged them here by subject. The titles listed for each subject feature a brief summary written by a reference librarian, and each subject's titles are divided into those that are specific to Texas law and those that aren't.

This self-help book from Sphinx Legal is written for Texas residents who wish to write their own basic will. Authors Karen Rolcik and Mark Warda provide an excellent overview of Texas law along with advice on how to draft a simple will and how to navigate other estate planning issues such as living wills, designating guardians, and making anatomical gifts. An accompanying CD is available that contains customizable forms with step by step instructions. The book does not circulation, however, you are welcome to use it in the library. The CD is available to check out for three weeks. Please request both of these items at the library's reference desk.
