This title collects 23 previously published articles that examine the junction of indigenous peoples and the law especially through the lens of environmental law. The first section establishes a framework to examine legal issues surrounding indigenous peoples and international law. The second section examines “indigenous peoples and contemporary dimensions.” Part three discusses the conflict between indigenous rights and environmental protection looking specifically at the Arctic, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Guatemala, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Scandinavia, and the United States. The final section discusses the impact of globalization on indigenous peoples.
