This handbook is intended to outline the Open Meetings Act for county judges and commissioners and their staff. It covers the basics of the Act, including telephone and videoconferencing, an overview of the legalities of notice, and procedures and permissible reasons for closed meetings. Attention is given to violations of the Open Meetings Act, including criminal penalties, specifics on criminal liabilities of judges or commissioners, removal from office, civil sanctions, and legal standing. The appendix includes sample forms.
