Environmental Law
The law of environmental justice: theories and procedures to address disproportionate risks

The first comprehensive treatise written on environmental justice which is defined by the authors as “the idea that minority and low-income individuals, communities, and populations should not be disproportionately exposed to environmental hazards, and that they should share fully in making the decisions that affect their environment”. Now in its second edition, the volume looks first at the legal theories behind environmental justice such as equal protection and Executive Order 12,898. Then the legal procedures such as public participation and impact assessments are discussed. The final section of the book lays out necessary legal objections such as cleaning up abandoned or inactive contaminated sites or controlling exposures in the workplace. Also included are tables of statutes, regulations, and cases.
